ADAC Welcomes Formula 1 Guests to Abu Dhabi
(9 November 2011)

Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC) is gearing up for welcoming the anticipated increase in passenger and cargo traffic arriving to Abu Dhabi for the Formula one season at the company’s three international airports- Abu Dhabi International Airport, Al Bateen Executive Airport and Al Ain International Airport. ADAC has increased staffing in all airports and companies to facilitate the smooth flow of F1-related traffic, whether visitors, participants in the race, Formula 1 cars or equipment.

ADAC, through its companies Abu Dhabi Airport services (ADAS) and Abu Dhabi Cargo Company (ADCC), has implemented a comprehensive plan ensuring full preparedness in all key areas of operations. These plans include loading, fuelling and airplane parking, and working with the airside operations, security, cargo, and hospitality to accommodate the anticipated increase in traffic during this mega event.

In this regard, Harib Al Hameli, Vice President Operations, Abu Dhabi International Airport, stated: “We are excited to welcome the world to Abu Dhabi through our airports. Many of our staff has generously volunteered to work over the weekend to ensure we provide the best possible service and the warm Arabian hospitality we are known for throughout this busy weekend. I would like to thank them, and thank the combined efforts of our partners from Police, Immigration, the airlines and others who are continuously supporting ADAC, its airport and companies.”

“Abu Dhabi International, Al Ain International and Al Bateen Executive Airports are all greeting passengers from every part of the world, and making sure this passage is an enjoyable part of the passengers’ journey”, added Al Hameli.

Passengers travelling through Abu Dhabi International Airport will enjoy many exhibits and special promotions and activities including the airport activation zones with interactive exhibits on the F1 activities, and online voting of the most beautiful F1 car of the 59 cars on display throughout the airport. Passengers and visitors at the airport will be able to vote for their favorite car via the airport’s website on www.abudhabiairport.ae. The capital’s airport will also be commemorating this mega event by a display of wire F1 cars that will be dressed up by local artists to showcase their individual impressions of the race. Among the artists will be Zeinab Al Hashemi, Nada Al Ameri, Hamdan Buti Al Shamisi, and Soud Saeed Al Dhahri.

As for Al Bateen Executive Airport, VIP’s from the race’ celebrities and fans will enjoy a personalized experience from booking to touchdown by using the airport’s FBO, DhabiJet. The FBO ensures that ample staff is available to handle smooth turnarounds around the clock and often at times where there is a spike in arrivals or departures. Operational Planning also started few months back when the executive airport announced free landing and parking services for private aircraft arriving to Al Bateen during the F1 weekend. Estimates of the number of flight movements are constantly updated and relayed to Safety team and DhabiJet in order to optimize the apron layout to avoid any possible overcapacity issues.

On the cargo front, throughout last week Abu Dhabi Cargo Company (ADCC) received all Formula 1 race cars arriving from South Korea after completing the last round of races before the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. ADCC has been handling the cargo delivery related to Formula 1 since the event’s inception in Abu Dhabi in 2009. To ensure efficient and reliable deliverables in cargo handling, ADCC utilizes the most advanced machinery and tools and depends on highly trained team of staff. Such strategy has gained ADCC many prestigious awards and drove it to continue break international records in operational efficiency and quality of service.
